Jesus Is Alive!

We just celebrated Jesus’ resurrection on Easter, but I hope everyday is a celebration of our Lord being alive and in control of life itself! On Easter, I recorded me singing the song He’s Alive! Hope You’re Doing Well!

What a crazy time. We at Heartfelt Music® hope you are doing well amidst this COVID19 pandemic. I was helping stream services at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, but now feel the necessity do something from home. Would you be interested in me streaming a music worship time some evening through Facebook Live? So many musicians are offering this as an option. Email me and let me know what you think would be encouraging for you. Since Heartfelt Music® has a streaming license, I can sing through some current songs and you can sing along at home.

March has been a fulfilling month with the BASS Conference (before the Shelter-in-Place order), performing two live concerts (Gilroy and Los Altos), and learning to teach through Zoom online. Quite a few changes, but we’re doing well.

Reggie’s Concert

I sure enjoyed the two live concerts at Gilroy Presbyterian Church and Bridges Community Church in Los Altos. This was before the Shelter-in-Place order was in place.

BASS Convention

I had over 75 enthusiastic people for my vocal workshop at the BASS Convention and around 30 for the guitar workshop. Over 1,000 attended the convention!

Zoom Lessons

I’m teaching classes with Valley Christian School through Zoom, which is surprisingly going very well. I’m also teaching private lessons through Zoom and have about 10 students.

The Unpredictability of Life

“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9
.

So much life has happened since my last eNewsletter both personally and in ministry. Some things are planned, but other things just happen and surprisingly change our course. Nothing has been too drastic, but it’s the uncertainty of life that keeps us on our toes and keeps us turning to Jesus. I love Proverbs 16:9 because no matter how organized we are in looking ahead, it’s the Lord who guides us and creates our path.

The Summer Concerts at Mount Hermon went really well. Heartfelt Music® is in charge of organizing these and is setting up the summer of 2020 now. July 28th Sherri and I celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary. What a joy! In August, I started teaching again at Valley Christian Schools with a new junior high class called Video Fun. We are creating all kinds of videos using an iPad and iMovie and it has truly been fun. I’ve been the Worship Arts Director with Gilroy Presbyterian Church for three years through Heartfelt Music®. They have skillful and enjoyable musicians and we’ve just starting another season of choir. I’ve been rebuilding a deck in our back yard, which has taking much longer than anticipated. Just recently, PG&E turned off our power for no reason and we had to do without internet and sleep apnea machines for a couple of days. Life is unpredictable, but God is in control! We experience His love and faithfulness every day.

Thank you for your prayers and continued encouragement in Heartfelt Music@ ministry. May the gracious love of God fill you thoroughly as you “draw near to God, with a sincere heart, in full assurance of faith” (Hebrews 10:22a

Summer Concerts

Inspiring Summer Concerts

The Mount Hermon Summer Concert Series was a such a ministry success! We ended with Phil Keaggy, Aaron Shust, and Point of Grace in July. We are already working on next summer and have a phenomenal line up including Phillips, Craig, and Dean.

35th Wedding Anniversary

35th Wedding Anniversary

Sherri and I have been married for 35 years! Right after the Point of Grace concert in July, we took our boys and their wives to Shadowbrook restaurant to celebrate. It’s so fulfilling to reflect on all the wonderful experiences God has brought us through.

Teaching & Private Guitar Lessons

Sanctus RealTraining with ReggieHere & Now Album

Summer is here!

I hope your summer is off to a great start! During May, there’s been a lively amount of ministry events with Heartfelt Music® one-on-one lessons; weekly leading worship at Gilroy Presbyterian Church; wrapping up the spring semester at Valley Christian Schools; teaching at the National Worship Leader Conference in Nashville; and gearing up for the free Mount Hermon Summer Concert Series.
.
Producing the seven concerts at Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center is the biggest thing for me this summer. We begin this Saturday night, 6/15, with Sanctus Real (see below). Visit the Summer Concert Page for all the details and register for the yummy buffet dinner just before the concert. Here’s a list of who is coming:

This summer, I am working on podcasts, new recordings, training workshops and videos, writing out my music, and setting up concerts. I’m using the summer to get ready for the Fall.
.
I appreciate your faithful encouragement, continuing to uphold me and Heartfelt Music® in prayer. Also, I have to give a big “Thank You!” to those who are giving support financially. If you’d like to help in this way, visit our Support page at https://heartfeltmusic.org/about/support/. Also, you can turn your Father’s Day shopping into a force for good. As you shop at smile.amazon.com/ch/91-1987382, Amazon donates to Heartfelt Music and Ministry, Inc.

Sanctus Real in Concert

As a part of the Mount Hermon Summer Concert Series, Sanctus Real will be in concert this Saturday, June 15, at 7:30pm in the main auditorium at the Mount Hermon Conference Center (37 Conference Drive, Mount Hermon. CA 95041). After 20 years of touring, 24 radio hits and full album sales exceeding 750,000, Sanctus Real cemented itself as a trusted brand in Christian music. Songs like Lead Me have influenced many over the years. The original members Mark Graalman and Chris Rohman have added Dustin Lolli, as Sanctus Real’s new lead singer and creative influence. With their new album Changed, the band communicates that nothing’s ever a lost cause in the kingdom of heaven. Listen to their new song on YouTube.com Unstoppable God.

Private Lessons This Summer

I will be teaching guitar this summer in Los Altos and Mount Hermon, and through Skype every week on Thursdays. I will tailor the lessons for each student and the schedule is customizable as well. When I’m not in your area, you can take lessons through Skype (or FaceTime) in order to make it weekly. Let me know what you’d like to do so I can plan ahead. Let me also know what time would work for you and if you’d like a 30 minute or 45 minute lesson. I will also be giving lessons in voice, bass guitar, recording music (ProTools), writing out music (Sibelius), and music theory. I’ll be in Los Altos at Bridges Community Church June 13, 27, July 11, 25, and August 8. I’ll be in Mount Hermon June 20, July 18, and August 1. Call me to set up lessons at 925-206-9895.

Download Albums and Written Music

You can download my digital product at Gumroad.com/Reggie. I have seven CDs available, music written out, three free singles (There Is Room, Flame, and Remember), and the results of a survey I took with worship leaders from the Bay Area. With some of the albums, I have stories behind each song and inspiration as to why I wrote them.
.
You can also purchase physical CDs or digital CDs at cdbaby.com.  I have three CDs available there: Here & Now, Instrumental Guitar Vol. I, and Heartfelt Celebration.
Another way to hear my music is on Spotify and other streaming services. The cool thing is that every time you stream my song on one of these platforms, I get paid a few cents for royalties. Thanks for listening to my music! That means a lot to me!

January Update 2019

Ministry Journal, Upcoming Events No Comments

The first three days of 2019 bring great guidance from the Bible APP YouVersion.com!

What’s In Your Treasure Box

I hope you are enjoying this new year and fostering your love for God to be more passionate than ever. May this Treasure Box concept encourages you throughout 2019!

There’s a Treasure Box in your heart.  You can only have one thing in it at a time, but whatever is in it is the most important thing in your life.  You have to have something in that box, whatever is most important to you, but it can change often.   One minute, you can have God in this Treasure Box and the next minute you can put another relationship in there, maybe even a certain car you’ve been dreaming of.  You can only have one thing in that box at a time for there is only one thing that is most important.  Yet, whatever is in there will shape your life and decisions.  God has created us to live life with Him in the Treasure Box at all times.  This can be thought of as a lifestyle of worship, a continued relationship of love, respect, honor and loyalty, a moment-by-moment giving the highest worth to God.

What we need is a worship infusion!  Infusing a love for God that supersedes all those little gods vying for the Treasure Box.  We need a worship renewal or awakening to give us this lifestyle of worship toward God.  Worship renewal is when a Christian realizes he or she is not giving God first place in his or her life and begins valuing Him above everything else.  Worship awakening is when someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus turns to Him, takes Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and gives Him His rightful place in their Treasure Box.  Both renewal and awakening mean that we humble ourselves, rely on the Holy Spirit for constant quickening of our spirit to love God with all our heart, cling to Jesus through all of life’s experiences, pray at all times, and anticipate the moment we’ll see Him face to face.  Worship infusion is turning from idolatry to worshiping God above all else.

Praise Night in Gilroy

I’ll be leading a Praise Night at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave, Gilroy, CA 95020, this Sunday, January 27, at 6:00pm. An informal gathering to sing our praise to God as one church body. “Sing to the Lord a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy!” (Psalm 33:3). We will be singing familiar songs that inspires faith and new songs that reveal our God in meaningful splendor.

Private Lessons Through Skype

I just started teaching private guitar lessons through Skype! Now lessons are not limited to location. I do a lot of traveling and I’m trying to minimize my time away from home. It’s been going well, and I’m meeting once a month with students in person to be able to play together and have that “in person” feel. If you are interested in lessons through Skype, email me and let’s set up a time! [email protected]

Thank you for your support!

We appreciate your support throughout this last year! There’s been so many significant aspects of ministry that would not have been the same without your prayers and encouragement. We have plans to expand this coming year with a new website, new training in music and worship, and new songs and products. Please, pray the Lord will clearly direct our steps throughout 2019.

May Ministry Update

Ministry Journal, Upcoming Events No Comments

God is doing a new thing!

Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.“Isaiah 43:18-19

What a message of hope! How healing and reassuring! Some people spend too much time dwelling on the past and not enough time looking ahead to what God is doing right now and in the future.  God says, “Don’t you see it? I’m doing something new for you! What I’m doing is giving you an amazing way through troubled times, a flourishing experience through the wastelands.” I’ve gone through some really tough times such as the death of my parents at a young age, physical infirmities, work challenges, and almost losing my home. But through it all, God has been so loving and merciful. He continues to take the worst situations and turn them into something good (Romans 8:28). Stay close to Him, don’t dwell on the past, and know that He is making all things new – “The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17b).

The Scoop with Reggie & Heartfelt Music

This month has been very full and very fulfilling too! Last weekend on Saturday, I hosted the first fundraising lunch for Child Evangelism Fellowship Northern California Silicon Valley. A significantly productive ministry reaching 20 million children a year in 200 countries. Then on Sunday, I taught group guitar lessons at River of Life Christian Church in Santa Clara. This Sunday, I’ll be leading worship with Gilroy Presbyterian Church at 10:00am. I’m wrapping up the year at Valley Christian School this month and Graduation for the students is Saturday, May 27 (see below). I’m also wrapping up my private lessons before summer with a Recital in Los Altos at Bridges Community Church Monday, May 22, at 7:00pm. I hope you can join me for my summer concert at Gilroy Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 4, 6:30pm (see below). You can even join us for dinner at 5:30pm before the concert. Help get the word out by downloading the Gilroy Concert Flier and sharing with others.

Pro Tools & Sibelius User Certification

This June, you can become an Avid Certified User in Pro Tools or Sibelius though the week long courses at VCS. Pro Tools was made by engineers out of a need to replicate fancy studio equipment in software form, Pro Tools has revolutionized the modern day studio, not only making the music production process more simple, but also at the cost of pocket change compared to what it would previously cost to get a decent recording! Producers and Engineers record and mix with it. Songwriters and Composers create with it. It is an environment in which you make magic happen!

End of the Year with Valley Christian Schools

VCS is wrapping up the school year this month (May 27) and it has been a fantastic experience! Teaching guitar, worship leading, and music technology is both challenging and fulfilling. There are over 40 guitarists in my classes with Intro to Guitar & Bass, Guitar 2, and Guitar 3. The guitar 2 & 3 classes went busking (street performing) in downtown Santa Cruz last week. The picture above is from last Wednesday’s high school chapel. The Worship Teams have been doing a great job! The most challenging has been the new Music Technology course since it’s more advanced than before. Pray we finish strong!

Get Pro Tools or Sibelius User Certification

Would you like to get better at recording music or writing music? Valley Christian Schools, as an Avid Learning Partner, is offering training to become an Avid Certified User in either Pro Tools or Sibelius. I am an Avid Certified Instructor and will be teaching both courses. The Sibelius User Certification Course will be the week of Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, 9:00am-5:00am daily. The Pro Tools User Certification Course will be the week of Monday, June 5, through Friday, June 9, 9:00am-5:00pm daily. Both courses are intensive and will give you the professional edge to rise above the competition.

Gilroy Concert Sunday June 4

At Gilroy Presbyterian Church, Sunday, June 4, 6:30pm, I’ll be sharing new songs as well as favorites using loops and advanced guitar techniques. You will be encouraged through inspiring stories with beautiful guitar and vocal tapestry. This concert is free. The people of Gilroy Presbyterian Church are providing a free dinner at 5:30pm. The concert will be at 6:30pm. I’ve enjoyed eight months of ministry with GPC and have thoroughly enjoyed leading the band and choir as well as working with the leadership. This concert will be a culmination of enriched ministry with these beautiful people. Come join us!

Valley Christian Worship with 2300 Students

Besides teaching Guitar and Music Technology at Valley Christian Schools, I am the Chapel Coordinator and direct the two high school worship teams and junior high worship team. Last week, the school had a spiritual emphasis week with chapels every day. It was a busy week but filled with spiritual nourishment for the 1700 high school students and the 600 junior high students. Last Wednesday was a Worship Chapel the students designed.

Gilroy Presbyterian Church is transitioning to fill a full-time Senior Pastoral position and Worship Director position. I will be Interim Worship Director from October through February to help with this transition. They have found a Senior Pastor, Trevor Van Laar, who will be joining them in January. I’ll be leading twice a month and directing their choir once a month. I enjoy working with these precious people who are excited about using their talents in ministry.

June Happenings and Update

Ramping Up

Summer is usually a time of “winding down,” but for me it’s more like “winding up.” After teaching for many years, some may think it’s time for things to be “wrapping up,” yet this Spring and Summer has been and will be more of a “ramping up” for me. I’m so thankful for the real-world education that Full Sail University gave me through the Master of Science degree program. The business plan for Heartfelt Music, developed over the last year, has equipped me to lead, manage, create, support, and motivate through Heartfelt Music like never before. In June, I’ll be trained to be an Avid Certified Instructor in Pro Tools (the leading recording software) and in July, I’ll finish training to be an Avid Certified Instructor in Sibelius (the leading music writing software). This will help Heartfelt Music expand its offerings in recording and writing out music. This will also help Valley Christian High School with their Music Technology class and a developing program to equip young performing artists. Thank you for your prayers! Your enthusiastic encouragement means so much to me.
  .

Enjoy a Few Summer Guitar Lessons

I’ll be teaching guitar lessons throughout the summer in three locations, so you can catch a few if you’d like. In Los Altos, they are on Mondays: June 20 & 27, July 11 & 18, August 1 & 8. In San Jose, they are on Tuesdays: June 21 & 28, July 12 & 19, August 2 & 9. In Mount Hermon, they are on Saturdays: June 11 & 18. Email me if you would like to improve, [email protected].

Pro Tools & Sibelius Instructor Certification

Next week, I’ll go through a five-day training course to become both an Avid Certified Pro Tools User and an Avid Certified Pro Tools Instructor. I’m looking forward to using this DAW with Heartfelt Music and with Valley Christian Schools. Students who take the Music Technology course at VCS next year will have UC Fine Arts credit and be certified as Pro Tools users.

Spring Guitar Recitals in Los Altos

We held our 2016 Spring Guitar Recitals at Bridges Community Church last week. You can watch a two minute YouTube video to see who participated. They all were fantastic! There’s quite a variety of skill levels and age levels in my Los Altos crew. Michael came all the way over from Mount Hermon just to be able to be in it. It’s a joy teaching all of them and watching them improve.

Coming Events

June 5 & 19 (Sun)
