Private Coaching/Lessons Introduction
I am currently holding private lessons at Bridges Community Church in Los Altos, Guitar Showcase in San Jose (SMI), Valley Christian School in San Jose (VCS) and my home in Mount Hermon. Each lesson is tailored to you specifically! Whether you want to learn guitar, voice, music theory, songwriting, worship leading, bass guitar, concert artistry, or any combination, you will have fun and be challenged. Lessons are weekly, once or twice a month and can be used to enhance other lessons you may be taking. You can even make it a small group lesson if you get some friends at the same level, though most people respond best to individualized intensive mentoring-style coaching/lessons.
Each student receives a personal notebook to hold all the handouts, magazines, recordings and other resources. Each lesson is filled with personal intensive education following your goals and specific interests. A Lesson Summary Video is recorded at the end of each lesson for you to download (usually within 48 hours) to have audio and visual examples to remember the assignment. You will receive a Private Assignment Page (which is password protected) for details of each assignment. I am available through email, phone, text, Facebook, or Skype to answer questions you may have.
It is expected that each student take this commitment seriously and dedicate adequate practice time to fully benefit from each lesson. Each student is expected to demonstrate initiative, motivation, and a sense of purpose. Come with questions and seek to be challenged. If you cannot make a lesson, please communicate as soon as possible (email or call 925-206-9895). If there is no communication before the lesson, you will be asked to pay for that time missed.
I do teach lessons to all ages and tailor each one to the needs, goals, and learning styles of the student. I make the lessons very fun and encouraging. For beginners, group lessons are both economical and a great way to start. I teach group lessons and courses for this reason. But most students learn best with private lessons. What makes my lessons a cut above others is the combination of:
- Understanding where a student is in their skill level and taking them to the next level with relevant technique and appropriate materials. I listen and empathize.
- Motivating students through demonstration, DVD samples, Magazines, and other resources.
- We go through an excellent resource book called the New Complete Guitarist (see the bottom of the products page at http://heartfeltmusic.org/products/)
- There is a lot of communication and a Private Assignment Page on my web site where I list the assignment and give private messages.
- Making a video of the last two minutes of each session so the student can download it and see my instruction throughout the week.
My young students usually take every other week (some take every week). Adults usually do 45 minutes or an hour every other week.
The cost for private lessons are $45 for 30 minutes, $65.00 for 45 minutes, $85.00 for 60 minutes, and $100 for 75 minutes. If 2-4 students would like to take at the same time, the cost would be the same for the time and each student can split the cost (the book would be extra).
On Mondays, I teach from 1:00pm to 9:00pm at Bridges Community church. I teach the first and third Fridays from 4:30pm to 9:30pm at Showcase Music Institute (Guitar Showcase), call for specific time openings. I teach the second and fourth Fridays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at my home in Mount Hermon. I also teach at Valley Christian High School on Thursday afternoons 2:30pm-5:00pm.
Worship Leadership Coaching/Consulting
I am available to consult with Worship Leaders, Music Directors, Worship Teams, or Church Leaders to sharpen their skills, encourage their passion, give support through difficulties, and train toward effective leadership. I have had extensive experience in coming alongside churches to help prepare to hire worship leaders. Payment for Coaching/Lessons
Lessons are $85.00 an hour; $65.00 for 45 minutes; $45.00 for 30 minutes; and $100.00 for 75 minutes.
