Impacting the Bay Area

Heartfelt Music is continuing to touch lives throughout the Bay Area. We are leading others toward excellence in artistry and intimacy with God. Explained in more detail below, I have been coaching the children’s ministry at River of Life Christian Church (Santa Clara), teaching guitar at the Korean Emmanuel Presbyterian Church (Milpitas), leading worship at Gilroy Presbyterian Church (Gilroy), teaching private music lessons (San Jose, Los Altos, and Mount Hermon), and continuing to coordinate chapels and lead the worship teams at Valley Christian Schools (San Jose). Please, pray we will be able to have a significant impact on many lives, encouraging them in Christ.

Three of my albums are available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, CD Baby, and over 100 other outlets. Four other albums, my music book, free songs, and a worship report are available at Gumroad.com. Physical CDs can be purchased through CD Baby.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support! You make a big difference.

Valley Christian Worship with 2300 Students

Besides teaching Guitar and Music Technology at Valley Christian Schools, I am the Chapel Coordinator and direct the two high school worship teams and junior high worship team. Last week, the school had a spiritual emphasis week with chapels every day. It was a busy week but filled with spiritual nourishment for the 1700 high school students and the 600 junior high students. Last Wednesday was a Worship Chapel the students designed.

Team Training with River of Life Chinese Church

The children’s ministry of River of Life Church is vibrant and well organized. I’m bringing two seniors from Valley Christian High School worship team to help in mentoring the kids. We had such a meaningful time at the first meeting October 2nd. Heartfelt Music is a tremendous resource for ministry development like this.

Interim Worship Dir. with Gilroy Presbyterian Ch.

Gilroy Presbyterian Church is transitioning to fill a full-time Senior Pastoral position and Worship Director position. I will be Interim Worship Director from October through February to help with this transition. They have found a Senior Pastor, Trevor Van Laar, who will be joining them in January. I’ll be leading twice a month and directing their choir once a month. I enjoy working with these precious people who are excited about using their talents in ministry.

Evoking Excellence

During the last few months, I’ve been coming alongside various groups to inspire skillful and excellent music as well as to draw closer to Jesus. In September, I’ve continued to encourage the wonderful folks at San Jose Christian Reformed Church (SJCRC) as their Interim Worship Director. In October, I played instrumental music for the SonRise Equestrian Foundation fundraiser in Alamo during their silent auction; I led worship at the Tonto Rim Christian Camp’s Men’s Retreat in Arizona with a whole weekend of manly fun and fellowship; Earlier this month, I led worship for Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, amazed at how welcoming and enjoyable the people are; two separate Sunday’s, the two Valley Christian High School worship teams led worship at SJCRC which was good for them to get the experience outside of chapels; and I did an all day training with Tri-Valley Chinese Bible Church in Pleasanton. Next weekend, I’ll be leading a worship night Friday at Redwood Christian Park for a Men’s Retreat with the Home Church from Campbell; and on Sunday, I’ll continue directing the worship team and leading worship with SJCRC. With Thanksgiving approaching, I want you to know I am very grateful for you, your prayers, and continued support!

The Art of Worship Sibelius Training National Worship Leader Conference

The Art of Worship

There are many aspects to worship (or “worth-ship”), but giving worth to God is the main thrust. The reality of worship takes place in the heart as we are loving, adoring, honoring, valuing, and giving worth to God. It’s all about relationship and being intimate with Him. However, though the reality of worship takes place inside us, it’s only appropriate for there to be some outward expression of worship. These outward expressions are symbols we use to communicate to God how valuable He is to us. We can close our eyes, bow our heads, singing lyrics, raise our hands, shout praise, design lighting, get on our knees, write a poem, and even engineer sound. All these are considered the “Art of Worship.” Some things are spontaneous and some are well thought out, but they reveal what’s going on in our hearts. May you get creative in expressing your heart to God in artistic ways. Remember, it’s not about trying to impress God. It’s about pleasing and honoring God in all we do, matching our inner attitude of worship with our physical demonstration of that worship.
.
We greatly appreciate your continued prayers and encouraging notes each month. This spurs us on to stay focused on using music, leadership, and training to effectively help others reach their potential. I hope you are having a wonderful summer!

.

Worship Leading Opportunities throughout July

I’ll be regularly ministering with San Jose Christian Reformed Church as their Interim Worship Leader for the next several months. They are looking for a full-time worship leader, so I’m there to help. I’ll be coming alongside other churches here and there as well. On July 26, I’ll be at Community Presbyterian Church leading worship in their Sanctuary services. That same evening, I’ll be leading worship for Cityteam in San Jose. We’ve put together a power band to lift our praise to God. We also played with them last month.

.

Sibelius Training for Certification

I’ll be receiving Certification Training mid-July for Sibelius music software at The Commercial Music Lab, Gavilan Hills Estates, near Los Angeles. I’ll be training students at Valley Christian High School how to write music on the computer using Sibelius. They will also become certified. Also, it’s about time I wrote out some of my songs as well. Just today, I was teaching one of my students my song Flame. Both of us wished it was fully written out in music notation and guitar tab. Hopefully, I’ll be able to write out a bunch.

Reggie in Concert Full Sail University Phil & Reggie

Turning Points

I truly believe God has a plan for our lives. Throughout our days, there are key moments or major “turning points” that change our course. One of my major turning points was right after junior college when I had to decide whether to major in Architecture, like my dad, or music, which was my passion. I chose music. I’m excited about the path God has directed me on. I feel overwhelmingly grateful and deeply responsible for where God has placed me right now. What are some turning points in your life? Can you see God’s hand at work in them? Let me encourage you to stay close to God and He will guide you. “Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

I’m performing a concert this summer at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Campbell, June 14, at 7:00pm. I hope you can come! There is an interactive workshop the same day at 5:00pm called Worship Infusion to enhance your worship lifestyle.

Thank you for your interest in Heartfelt Music Ministry. Many good things are going on and your prayers make a significant difference in support and blessing. I appreciate you!

Worship Infusion Workshop and Concert

I’ll be leading a Worship Infusion workshop and performing an acoustic concert at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Campbell, Sunday, June 14. Everyone gets involved in discussing three prominent areas of worship: The Heart aspect of worship (passion & purpose); The Art aspect of worship (promptings & process); The Hard aspects of worship (people & politics). Come strengthen your worship with God and share what you’ve learned along the way. Register for the workshop HERE. After the workshop, I’ll be performing a concert and sharing encouraging stories. Masters Degree Highlights

I’m in my third week working on my Masters degree at Full Sail University. It is an intensive program that is both challenging and empowering. I’m really enjoying it! In the first week, we created a “Turning Point Video” (which you can see by clicking HERE) and began an excellent book by Robert Greene called “Mastery.” In the second week, I had to write an extensive research paper on someone who is a Master in their field. Can you guess who I chose? This week, I’ve integrated Instagram and Tumblr and will write out an in-depth review of my “calling.” The Tumblr account will be tracking with my Mastery Journey through Full Sail University. You’re welcome to follow along.

Phil Keaggy was Fantastic!

Valley Christian School brought Phil Keaggy in for a concert, training, and both the junior high and high school chapels in April. He was fantastic! Having someone of Phil’s skill level, genuine humility, and deep faith was inspiring (watch his “True Believers” video). The concert was well attended and I was excited to see many guitarists from the Christian Guitarist Conferences in which we had Phil nine out of the fifteen times as the Featured Artist. Some of the VCS students were able to spend an intimate training time with him playing his guitar and asking questions. Phil was so encouraging! Then, he performed for the 2000 VCS students during their chapels. They loved him!
