Valley Christian School Courses, San Jose
- Modern Guitar Course 1 (Grades 9-12): September 13-November 1, (Mon) 2:30pm-3:15pm
Monday, grades 9-12, 2:30pm (Every Monday for 8 weeks beginning September 13th), at Valley Christian High School, 100 Skyway Drive, Suite 110, San Jose, CA 95111. This is a beginning course for students grades 9-12 who want to learn how to play guitar and experience the basics in music. Students start developing modern guitar technique, essential musical listening skills, foundational understanding in reading music, and how to care for their instrument. Sign-up online with Heartfelt Music through PayPal (email your name, email address, and phone number to reggie@heartfeltmusic.org). The cost is $195 for the 8 week course which also includes the book The New Complete Guitarist by Richard Chapman and a sturdy binder. There will also be relevant hand-outs for each class. Wednesday, grades 5-8, 3:15pm (Every Wednesday beginning September 8th following the school calendar), at San Ramon Valley Christian Academy, 220 W. El Pintado, San Ramon, CA 94526. This is a beginning course for students grades 5-8 who want to learn how to play a concert band instrument and experience the basics in music. Students start developing instrumental technique, essential musical listening skills, foundational understanding in reading music, and how to care for their instrument. The cost is $365 for the 16 week course which also includes a method book, sheet music, and a folder. There will also be relevant & educational hand-outs for each class. Each student must supply their own instrument. Students start developing dynamic singing technique, essential musical listening skills, foundational understanding in reading music, and how to care for their voice . Wednesdays, grades 5-8, 5:00pm-5:45pm (Every Wednesday for 8 weeks beginning September 9th), at Baymonte Christian School, 5000B Granite Creek Road, Scotts Valley, CA 95066. This is a continuing beginning course for children grades 5-8 who want to keep learning how to play guitar and experience the basics in music. Students continue developing modern guitar technique, essential musical listening skills, foundational understanding in reading music, and how to perform with their instrument. Sign-up online with Heartfelt Music through PayPal (email your name, email address, and phone number to reggie@heartfeltmusic.org). The cost is $170 for the 8 week course. We will use the book Guide to Playing the Guitar (with CD) by Terry Burrows and the binder from the first class (if you do not have the book or binder, the cost is $25 which can be paid at the first class).
